After Mourinho, another…Chelsea close to winning ‘signing race’ with Arsenal

Moises Caicedo is closer to Chelsea than Arsenal.

Chelsea are currently in the midst of a rebuild. Under Mauricio Pochettino, they’re trying to overcome last season’s failures by making changes.

Most importantly, the squad is changing. After spending over $800 million in the last two transfer windows, all that remains is an unmanaged squad. It’s time to let go of the players and rebuild with the players Pochettino wants.

There is a candidate. The main man is Brighton’s Caicedo. With the departure of N’Golo Kante, Chelsea have been looking for a replacement and Kaysedo is the man for the job. The Ecuadorian is a quality midfielder whose main position is defensive midfielder, so he could be a direct replacement for Kante.

He has already shown promise at a young age. After joining Brighton in February 2021, he spent a half-season on loan to gain experience and was given more playing time in the second half of the 2021-22 season. In 2022-23, he became a regular starter and led the Seagulls to the World Cup in Qatar.

This has led to speculation of a big club move. Arsenal is the main target. The Gunners, looking to strengthen their midfield last winter, approached Kaysedo and kept in touch. He was so keen to join Arsenal that he even took to social media to say goodbye to Brighton fans before it was official. In the end, the deal fell through and he remained at Brighton, but half a year later, the transfer rumors resurfaced.

Arsenal are planning to approach 스포츠토토 Caicedo once again. “Arsenal are ready to make a new offer for Brighton’s Kaysedo,” says English transfer market expert Chris Wheatley. “Arsenal are ready to make a new offer for Brighton’s Kaysedo, similar to the £75 million that Brighton rejected in January.

For now, though, it’s Chelsea who are closer to a deal. European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Saturday (April 16), “Chelsea are making progress on the Caido deal. The talks are continuing. An offer has already been made. A personal agreement is imminent. It’s not a done deal yet. It will take some time. The transfer fee is estimated to be in the region of £80 million and a commitment from Roberto De Chervi will ensure the player leaves.”

After last winter, the Blues are once again on the verge of winning the battle with Arsenal. Last winter, Chelsea succeeded in hijacking Mikhail Mourinho, who was heading to Arsenal, and bringing him to Chelsea.
