The Baltimore Orioles are bringing back a familiar face.
The Orioles announced on the 3rd (Korean time) that they would acquire Jorge Lopez (30) through waiver claim from the Miami Marlins.
Lopez, a native of Puerto Rico, played for five teams over eight seasons in the major leagues, recording 22 wins, 40 losses, 10 holds, 27 saves, and a 5.52 ERA in 218 games.
This is my second opportunity with Baltimore. Previously, he transferred from the Kansas City Royals to Baltimore through waiver claim in August 2020 and played until he was traded to the Minnesota Twins at the trade deadline in 2022.
In particular, his performance in 2022 was good. He pitched 48 1/3 innings in 44 games, recorded an ERA of 1.68 and 19 saves, and was selected as an All-Star.
At the time, Baltimore was in a good position to advance to the postseason, but they chose the ‘Seller’ route and transferred him to the Minnesota Twins.온라인카지노
After the transfer, he did not show good performance. After the transfer, he struggled with an ERA of 4.37 in 23 games. In the 2023 season, he pitched in 49 games and pitched 47 innings for both Minnesota and Miami, recording an ERA of 6.13, 7 holds, 3 saves, and 4 runs.
Depending on how you look at it, you could see the trade as correcting last year’s mistakes, but that’s not necessarily true.
Among the players received by losing Lopez to Minnesota last year is Jennier Cano, who established himself as a setup man this season and was also selected as an All-Star.
Because Lopez joined the team after September 1, he cannot play in the game even if Baltimore advances to the postseason.
