Jung Geun-woo, a 40th anniversary legend in the KBO, had this to say about his first impressions of Hanwha’s new foreign-born outfielder, Nick Williams.
Williams, who came to Hanwha as a replacement for Brian O’Grady, is a left-handed hitting outfielder who made his big league debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2017 and hit double-digit home runs for two straight years through 2018. In 2021, he played for the Chicago White Sox, and in 294 career major league games, he batted .251 with 31 home runs and 110 RBIs.
Last year, he moved to Mexican baseball for the 2022 season. Playing for Toros de Tijuana, Williams batted .370 with 29 home runs and 72 RBIs last year and is batting .340 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs this season.
“Williams is the type of hitter 꽁머니사이트 who can produce a lot of in-play hits, which is the opposite of O’Grady’s style,” Jung said on his YouTube channel, “and I feel like he’s a player who can provide some accuracy.”
He said Williams reminds him of former Hanwha player Jay Davis, who is considered the best foreign hitter in KBO history.
Davis, who played for Hanwha from 1999-2006, was a three-ball outfielder who batted .313 (3130-for-979) with 167 home runs, 591 RBIs and 538 runs scored. He became the first foreign hitter to reach 30 home runs and 30 doubles in his rookie year.
Jung said, “The first time I saw Williams, he reminded me of Jay Davis. As a player who produces a lot of in-play hits and is a strong hitter with chances, he was loved by Hanwha fans,” he said, hoping for a Davis-like performance.
“I’m very grateful to have been given this 토토 가입머니 opportunity,” Williams told the club. I’m excited to get a fresh start,” said Williams, “I want to help the team win as many games as possible and finish the season on a high note. I can’t wait to meet the Eagles fans.”
Williams is expected to arrive next weekend after finalizing the necessary administrative procedures, including obtaining a visa.
