Found Hwang Eui-Jo, a European version of Cho Kyu-Sung…’Klinsmann’s real first period’ frontline?

Jürgen Klinsmann’s South Korean national soccer team has a lot of competition up front. From Hwang Eui-jo (Seoul) and Cho Kyu-sung (Jeonbuk), who have recently improved their form, to Oh Hyun-gyu (Celtic), who has improved his game since arriving in Europe, there is an interesting battle for places.

Klinsmann’s South Korea will play Peru in Busan on June 16 and El Salvador in Daejeon on June 20.

This will be the first time Klinsmann will be 안전놀이터 able to observe and select players for the national team, so it’s being called the “real first period of Klinsmann. It will be interesting to see who earns a spot in this two-game series.

Most interestingly, the three strikers on the roster are all in top form.

Hwang Eui-jo, a longtime regular striker for the national team, has been out of form for a while, as he hasn’t gotten a chance to play for Olympiakos (Greece). However, a short-term loan spell with FC Seoul helped him improve his game, and he’s back to his best.

Right before his call-up, Hwang scored back-to-back goals against Incheon United on the 7th and Pohang Steelers on the 11th, giving him 3-4 goals in the league. Both goals were especially meaningful because they were scored with Hwang’s trademark winding kick.

Even Hwang Ui-jo himself expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I feel like I’m in much better shape now.” The original starter is determined to regain his status, which has slipped somewhat recently.

At the last World Cup, Hwang and Cho Kyu-sung alternated up front, but now Oh Hyun-gyu has improved enough to overtake them.

After joining Celtic (Scotland) in the January winter transfer window, Oh hit the ground running, scoring seven goals in 21 games to lead Celtic to a dominant treble (league title, league cup title, and FA Cup title).

“The Celtic Oh is stronger than the Oh I played in the K League,” said Oh, who has now won three titles in five months.

Oh is determined to make up for the disappointment of having his goal against Uruguay in the March A match disallowed for offside with his debut goal in the June A match.
