At the 2023 K-League winter field training media camp held at the Barev Hotel in Jeju on the 7th, coach Nam Ki-il said, “I’ve been saying that I want to create a team that can break the K-League Yanggang structure from last season.” 2nd place. We must continue to take on challenges without fear.”

Satisfaction with the process of preparing for the new season is high enough to look at a higher place. He said, “I think we are more united than ever, and the atmosphere is going in a good direction.” “We are preparing well without neglecting to prepare for the league.

As a commanding tower, you can also see changes in yourself. He intends to communicate more actively with the team. He said, “Last season, there was a difficult part because there was no internal dialogue.”

He also revealed his expectations for newcomers such as Hayes, Yuri, and Lee Ki-hyeok amidst the transfer vacancy of key players such as Joo Min-gyu (Ulsan) and Jerso (Incheon). He said, “There are Choi Young-joon, Yoon Bit-garam, and Lee Chang-min in the position where Yoon Bit-garam is missing. There are good players in the midfield camp. “There are more than two flashes. Yuri has a good body movement to score a goal when he delivers the ball to the goal. Both players are looking forward to it.”

Next, coach Nam said, “I aimed to create a good atmosphere with the newly joined players and foreign players. I tried to figure out how to continue this season well. I am preparing. I am constantly preparing and working hard to play soccer that never gives up.”

The following is a Q&A from director Ki-il Nam.

  • How do you feel ahead of the season?
▶We are more united than ever and the atmosphere is going in a good direction. We are preparing well without neglecting to prepare for the league. You are going in the right direction.
  • Is there anything you emphasized to the players during the field training? I heard you focused on winning mentality.
▶ There was a difficult part because there was no internal dialogue with the players last season. This season, instead of waiting with the door open, I think communication is when I go to the players’ room and do it myself. It’s a simple thing, but I can tell you that the communication that has changed is that I first asked what the players are like, what their condition is like, what their families are like, and what the players need. In the field training held in Thailand, we tried to raise the atmosphere of the players even more. The goal was to create a good atmosphere with new players and foreign players. I think I tried to figure out how to make it all season long. Mentally, we are preparing with the mind that we are one. I am constantly preparing and working hard to play soccer that never gives up.
  • It is noteworthy that the team consisted of 6 members. What role are you looking forward to?
▶ Captain Choi Young-joon and Koo Ja-cheol play a good role in the middle between the coaching staff and the players. I am communicating with the captain about what happened at the club. As far as recruiting players, I know that the captains are actively engaged in conversations and exchanging stories with each other. Once or twice a month, we have a meal time with the captain. We are working hard to fill the necessary parts of the squad.
  • Koo Ja-cheol only scored one goal last season. What role would you like him to play this season?
▶I came from a situation where my condition last season was not 100%. Since I came from a bad condition, I needed time to improve my condition. I didn’t make a big contribution to the team role because I had a lot of minor injuries, but I always had a good influence and played a role in the squad. I can say that Koo Ja-cheol is a good part when it comes to that kind of influence. Conditions continue to improve this season. I am maintaining a condition that many people can expect. There is always a positive part, so I expect that he will play a good role on the ground. As many fans like Koo Ja-cheol, I think he will show a good image this season.
  • Do you think Jeju can come close to Jeonbuk and Ulsan this season?
▶From last season, I said that I want to make a team that can break the K-League Yanggang composition. It will continue to knock on the door this season. The goal is to finish second in the K-League. I would like to say that we must continue to take on challenges without fear. Jeonbuk and Ulsan are not teams that were created overnight. We will also make it to the top group of the K-League this season. Since the club continues to create a good environment with good players, we will continue to run with the goal of second place in the K-League this season.
  • Expectations will be high for the performance of Hayes and Yuri, who were recruited as Zerso and others left.
▶ Hayes is a player with more than one or two moves. Yuri is a player with good body movements who can score a goal by passing the ball to the goal. Both players are looking forward.
  • Yoon Bitgaram, who transferred to Suwon FC, seems to be a sore finger. Who will fill that void?
He ▶ It seems that he regretted not being able to communicate much in the last season. He is one of the players who studied a lot while coaching. Personally, I feel sorry for not being able to show many of the skills that Yun Bit-garam has on the playground and in the stadium. My thoughts did not match Yun Bitgaram’s thoughts. It was a problem of communication he did not want to repeat. He moved to Suwon FC and he says he is doing well with other players. I hope that he will continue to play a pivotal role in the K-League and become a player who continues to make his name known. Choi Young-Jun, Yun Bit-Ga-Ram, and Lee Chang-Min are in place of Yun Bit-Ga-Ram. There are good players in midfield. I think I can do enough with the players who left enough.
  • Lee Ki-hyeok joined the team. What role are you looking forward to?
▶I recruited Lee Ki-hyeok, and I think he is a versatile player through training and practice matches. He intends to take on several positions. Athletes have a very high ability to have those parts.
