South Korea’s women’s baseball team, led by Yang Sang-moon, earned a five-run cold game victory over Hong Kong in their first game of the 2023 Asian Baseball Confederation (BFA) Women’s World Cup Super Round.
South Korea pounded out 13 hits in an 18-2 victory over Hong Kong today at the Sai Chow Wan Baseball Stadium in Hong Kong.
With the win over Hong Kong, South Korea will play Group A leader Chinese Taipei tomorrow at the same venue, with a win advancing them to the final on March 1.
South Korea opened the scoring in the first inning when Kim Hyun-ah singled up the middle with two outs and runners on first and third, and then followed it up with a double steal to take a 2-0 lead.
The team gave up a run in the top of the second to cut into the deficit, but in the top of the third, with one out, Joo Eun-jung doubled up the middle and scored on an error to make it 4-1.

South Korea lost their first game against Japan 0-10, but then defeated Indonesia 21-3 and the Philippines 9-5 to finish second in Group B and advance to the Super Round.
