Infielder Yang Seok-hwan (32, Dusan) thanked the fans with a heart gesture after his game-winning hit.
Yang Seok-hwan started at first base, batting fourth, in the home game against Hanwha in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on July 7. He went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, leading his team to a 6-3 victory.
Especially in the bottom of the seventh inning, when he was down 1-3, he came up as a pinch hitter after Yang’s two-run double tied the game. He hit a two-run single off Hanwha’s fifth pitcher, Kang Jae-min, to complete the comeback.
After the game-winning hit, Yang pumped his fist in the air and celebrated. After the game, he smiled and said, “I haven’t had good results in the scoring column lately, so when I hit in the seventh inning today, I couldn’t help but do a little ceremony.”
Yang has played in 49 games this season and is batting 2-for-9 with 54 hits in 182 at-bats, the second-highest batting average on the team after Yang Ji (3-for-2). However, he has only eight home runs compared to his batting average.
“I think home runs are an extension of hits. It’s great to have a lot of home runs, but I think it’s better to hit consistently and aim for a home 먹튀검증 run if you can’t hit a home run,” he said. He added, “I’m not greedy for a .300 batting average or home runs, but I’m greedy for RBIs, so I’m determined to focus on scoring runs.”
In May, Doosan launched the “Give Love, Share Love” campaign with fans to celebrate Family Month. When batters hit a hit or a home run, they showed their love to fans with a heart ceremony, earning 100,000 won for each hit and 1 million won for each home run. A total of 60.3 million won will be donated to the non-governmental organization (NGO) G Foundation.
The campaign was inspired by Yang Seok-hwan’s heart ceremony, which continued even after the campaign ended in June. “As I say every time, the support of my fans keeps me going even when things get tough,” he said. “Even though the campaign is over, the heart ceremony is an expression of that. I’m always grateful.”
